The Ruse Revealed
Penelope, the faithful wife of Odysseus, has held off her suitors for 20 years since Odyssseus left to fight in the Trojan Wars. She has done this by using the ploy of pretending to be weaving a shroud for her husbands father, saying that she would make a decision on a suitor when it was completed. She wove by day but by night she took out her weaving. However, her maid discovered her doing this and told her suitors. They came at night to verify the truth. Thus, the ruse was revealed.
